Apartment Buildings for Sale in Ferndale Washington

Multi-family units include structures containing three or more dwelling units, apartments, and condominiums. The bulk of the 1,087 multi-family housing units are located near downtown Ferndale, north of downtown Ferndale and along Main Street. A few apartment buildings are also scattered along Portal Way, just east of the freeway along the eastern border of Ferndale city limits. All of these units are within walking distance of downtown Ferndale, or are near the bus route operated by the Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA). Most of Ferndale’s apartment buildings are located in the RM 1.5 zone.

The current population of Ferndale is 9,750, and there are 3,476 dwelling units (April 2005). The population of the City of Ferndale is expected to grow by 8,665 over the next 20 years. Using an average of 2.77 persons per household, this translates into a need for 3,172 new housing units. In an effort to preclude potential housing shortages and subsequent escalation in prices, the Growth Management Act allows jurisdictions to plan for a market factor of an additional 25 percent. Including this market allowance, the total housing demand potential for the Ferndale Urban Growth Area over the 20-year period of this Comprehensive Plan is 3,965 units.
